Christian Community Storehouse is rebuilding its fixed-asset records, and the first and most important step is a physical inventory: independently walking the organization’s spaces and documenting the furniture and equipment that is actually there. Your objective is to produce a complete, accurate inventory of CSH’s physical assets. That inventory becomes the foundation for the organization’s fixed-asset register and the Property & Equipment section of its Statement of Financial Position. This is genuine accounting fieldwork. Verifying that recorded assets physically exist — and identifying assets that exist but were never recorded — is a core procedure that accountants and auditors perform. Approach it carefully and methodically; the quality of everything downstream depends on the quality of this count.
